2 Day Itinerary

DAY 1

BREAKFAST at Mooiplaas.

SEE OUDTSHOORN
(allow 2 hours).
Oudtshoorn is about 10 minutes from Mooiplaas Guest House. Things you must see are


LUNCH
There are lovely restaurants in Baron van Reede Street to choose from. Some that we recommend are La Dolce Vita, Cafe Brule, Die Peperboom


CANGO CAVES (allow 1.5 hour).
(Tel: 044 272 7410 ) The Cango Caves are half an hour from the Guest House. They are one of the world's great natural wonders, sculptured by nature through the ages.The Standard Tour is a hour and there is a tour starting every hour from 09:00 until 16:00. Then for the more adventurous, there is an Adventure Tour that last 1.5 hour.

CANGO WILDLIFE RANCH (allow 1.5 hour )

Experience face to face encounters with wildlife, see the white belgan tiger, cage dive with a crocodile, and see various other reptiles and animals. This is the world's oldest and biggest cheetah contact centre worldwide and the ranch have more than 40 species of animals.

Join us for our famous braai and taste ostrich the way it should be cooked!

DAY 2

BREAKFAST at Mooiplaas.

MOOIPLAAS FARM TOUR
(allow 1.5 hours).
Done by our registered tour guide, Koos. An experience not to be missed!

SWARTBERG PASS (allow 4 - 5 hours).
The circular route is highly recommended. Drive through the small town De Rust and then Meiringspoort. Visit the waterfall in Meiringspoort and put your feet in the refreshing cold water.
Then you will take the turn-off to Prince Albert through Klaarstroom. You can either have lunch in Prince Albert or you can stop along the route of the Swartberg Pass and enjoy a picnic basket that we provide on request in the magnificent setting of the spectacular scenery.

ANIMAL LOVER'S ITINERARY

BUFFELSDRIFT GAME LODGE
(Tel: 044 272 0106 )
Buffelsdrift is situated 7 kilometres outside of Oudtshoorn en route to the Cango Caves. Visitors can take a bush safari in an open game vehicle or on horseback escorted by a trained guide. See more than 20 game species and 217 recorded bird species.

CHANDELIER OSTRICH SHOW FARM

Chandelier is located on the N12 (R 62 ) 7 kilometres from Oudtshoorn, en route to George. It is a game lodge, ostrich show farm and a private eco estate. Activities include game drives, ostrich tours, animal touch farm, bird watching, mountain biking, hiking. Facilities include restaurant, weddings, conferences, team building, curio shop.

MEERKAT MAGIC (allow approximately 3 hours)
Together with Grant, the guide (known as the 'meerkat man'), you literally walk with wild meerkats. Tours are early morning. Everyone meets before sunrise to visit the meerkats because it is at sunrise when the meerkats come out of their holes.

AN ITINERARY FOR CHILDREN

By winning 3 double gold and two gold medals Boplaas has recently emerged as South Africa's best cellar at Veritas 2005. Boplaas is renowned for its world-class ports and muscadel.
